- Submit the score sheet, which must be signed by a sponsoring real estate broker, along with license fee to the Licensing Services Division of the CT State Department of Consumer Protection. This can be mailed or emailed.

National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Membership Application (By Choice)
The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) is a national organization representing real estate agents. Only members of this group can call themselves realtors®, as this term is trademarked by NAR.
While Connecticut does not require real estate agents to join NAR, some agents choose to join for benefits that include training, networking, continuing education, and community engagement opportunities.
There are more than 1,400 local real estate associations in the U.S.,6 and anyone who joins one of these local groups automatically becomes a member of both the state and national NAR.
CT has 17 local associations, which can be found on NAR’s website.7 Each sets its own dues and application process, but as an example, Connecticut’s Mid-State Association of Realtors® has a $125 application fee and annual dues of $790.8
How Long Does the CT Real Estate License Coursework Take?
The amount of time required to complete the 60-hour pre-licensing coursework can vary by individual, but examining the schedules offered by one certified provider can serve as an estimate.
One CT community college offering this program sets the schedule at 16 weeks,9 with one three to four-hour class per week. Shorter programs have applicants meeting twice per week and run for roughly half of that length of time.
How Long Does It Take To Complete the CT Real Estate License Exam?
While the exam for CT real estate license applicants lasts just 165 minutes, preparing for this exam can take much longer. All applicants have one year after receiving an exam eligibility card from PSI to pass both sections of the exam.
It costs $59 to take the exam the first time and $51 for each retake,1 and one can retake the test as many times as needed to pass.
While test fees are non-refundable, the exam can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before a scheduled exam appointment. PSI has six locations for CT applicants to take the exam in, West Hartford, Milford, Auburn, Boston, Fall River, and Springfield.
How Should I Prepare for the CT Real Estate License Exam?
PSI offers several tips for success for applicants preparing for the CT real estate licensing exam.1
- Applicants who prepare for the exam do better than those who fail to prepare and just try to “wing it.”
- Use resources listed in the Candidate Information Bulletin to help you study.1 A full list of resources can be found on page 10.
- Take notes when you study and discuss the materials with fellow applicants or colleagues as this can make it easier to remember what you study.

How Long Should I Prepare for the Real Estate Application?
The application for a CT real estate license is relatively simple, but the process does take some time because of the required pre-education courses and examinations. Understanding the time required for these two components can make it easier to determine how long the entire licensing process will take.
Is There a Practice Test for the CT Real Estate License Exam?
PSI offers a full practice test for the exam at a cost of $29.99.10 You can take the test as many times as you want, but you will have to pay each time.
